Feel like cooking gets you into a calmer state? You’re not alone. ”Cooking can feel like a meditation practice,” therapist Justyna Wawrzonek tells Bustle. ”Many of my clients describe cooking as ’being in the zone,’ a feeling in which they lose track of time and just focus on the task at hand. For someone who battles negative thoughts, worries, and is constantly bombarded with doubt, fear, shame, cooking can be a healthy outlet to bring peace and serenity into their headspace.” And, she explains, this can carry into your physical body, too.
Something as simple as adding a kitchen island can enhance the comfort of working in the kitchen. So, while planning your renovations, make sure that you sit down with the designer and add features that make your work in the kitchen easier. Addition of certain features can also help make the kitchen a safer place to work in. For example, a cluttered space in the kitchen can be hiding dangers like sharp knives or pointed tools. Planning a design that makes the kitchen clutter free can not only enhance the look of the kitchen, but make it safe as well.
Jamie McNally, an adjunct professor of psychology and owner of Sycamore Counseling Services, tells Bustle, ”Cooking at home tends to save money, which in turn, can positively impact a person’s overall financial situation.” Money can exacerbate mental health conditions and the pressure on intimate relationships. ”Since arguments about money tend to be one of the most common conflicts in a relationship, a couple could use cooking at home to strengthen their relationship not only by saving money, but also by using the opportunity to make a date night ritual,” suggests McNally.
”Cooking is self-care at its most basic and nourishing,” Meg Bowman, a clinical nutritionist at Nourish Integrative Solutions, tells Bustle. ”It is alchemy — you take ingredients and transform them into something delicious that feeds body and spirit.” And that, she says, gets us in touch with our physical selves. ”Nourishing our bodies with food is one of the most fundamental ways that our outer world (what we can see, touch, and taste) communicates with our inner world (our physical body).” This is backed up by science. A study in 2018 wanted to look at all the science that’s ever been done on specific cooking therapy for patients and communities, and it found some interesting conclusions.
It could be a very minimalist design but the materials are never close to simple. It is all about making a harmony about design ideas, budget and materials. With these three things in mind, let us look at the various things you can consider when you talk to your designer or contractor. You have to be aware of what you want to focus on. If you focus on budget, it means you have a tight budget for the design project. If you have a large sum for your project, or even a small one, you can now start the design process. It is important to know first your personal needs as a kitchen owner. If you like to bake more than cook, then the design of the kitchen will be geared more to adapting to baking rather than normal cooking. If you prefer a mixed style, then there is a design idea for that. The key about designer kitchens is that it is of course about the owner but with a touch of the aesthetics of the designer. Once you know what you need and how things should run for your kitchen, the designer will map out a plan as well as possible swatches and inspirations for texture, flooring and all other aspects.
They enjoy experimenting with the various pretend utensils and appliances to create imaginative scenarios, either mimicking actions of they have seen or formulating their own uses for the objects they use. Role play gives children the opportunity to express themselves creatively and engage in storytelling. Children vocally enact the role that they are playing, which enhances their language development and communication. Kitchen role play widens a child’s vocabulary as they begin to learn the names of new objects and foods, whilst also using new verbs such as “cook” and “stir” and opposites such as “hot” and “cold”.
